 Prior to forming The Loney Group in June, 2000, Mary
Rose Loney was the Commissioner of Aviation for the Chicago Airport
System, including O'Hare International and Midway Airports, as well as Meigs
Field. In this capacity she directed all airport operations, fiscal affairs and
capital development for the Airport System. Chicago O'Hare was the world's
busiest airport for both passengers and aircraft operations.
In
1999, O'Hare handled 897,000 aircraft operations and 72 million passengers,
while Midway served 13.5 million passengers with 297,000 aircraft operations.

The System serves as landlord to 93 airlines, 142 business tenants
and 60,000 employees. Ms. Loney directed a $2 billion Capital Development
Program including a $761 million new terminal project for Midway Airport.
Ms. Loney's professional accomplishments have been recognized by the
Chicago City Council, City Club of Chicago, Governor George Ryan and the
Chicago Sun-Times.
From 1993-1996, Ms. Loney was the Director of
Aviation for the City of Philadelphia's airports, including Philadelphia
International and Northeast Philadelphia Airports. She is credited with
reversing the decline of Philadelphia's airports with major terminal
infrastructure improvements, new international air service, improved food,
beverage and retail stores and a fresh focus on customer service. Her
accomplishments have been publicly recognized by the Philadelphia Inquirer,
Philadelphia Magazine, Philadelphia City Council and the Pennsylvania House of
Representatives and State Senate.
Ms. Loney has dedicated her
professional career to the management of airports. She is a 1973 Magna Cum
Laude graduate of the University of Pittsburgh (Bachelor of Arts Degree)
and holds a Master of Public Administration Degree (1983) from the
University of Nevada at Las Vegas. In 1975, she began her career in the
aviation industry marketing air tours of the Grand Canyon for Grand Canyon
Airlines. Ms. Loney then joined McCarran International Airport in Las
Vegas, Nevada and ascended to Planning Services Manager directing environmental
and policy planning activities.
From 1984-86, Ms. Loney administered
day-to-day operations at Albuquerque International Airport as the
Assistant Aviation Director. From 1986-89, Ms. Loney was the
Assistant Director of Aviation for San Jose International Airport,
California's fourth largest airport. Ms. Loney was named First Deputy
Commissioner of Aviation for the City of Chicago Airport System in
1989. In this capacity she directed operations, maintenance and security for
O'Hare's airfield, terminal building and parking/roadway facilities. Ms. Loney
served as Deputy Executive Director of Dallas/Fort Worth International
Airport from 1992-93 where she directed all fiscal and budgeting activities
including contracts, leasing, real estate services and personnel programs.

Appointed by Mayor Richard M. Daley in 1996 as Commissioner of
Aviation for the Chicago Airport System including O'Hare International, the

1999 the Chicago Airport System handled 1.2 million aircraft take-offs and
landings and 86 million passengers with an operating budget of $580 million and

Launched a $2 billion Capital
Development Program including a $761 million new terminal project for Midway
Airport. Organized and started first cooperative regional Noise Compatibility
Commission with 17 municipalities and eight school districts to administer a
$300 million residential and school sound insulation program. Negotiated new
$80 million food and retail program introducing fresh concepts, local Chicago
products and value pricing for customers. Led efforts to expand international
air service through the promotion of open skies and federal liberalization of
aircraft landing and take-off slots. Implemented the nation's first public
access program for automatic heart defibrillators within airport terminal
buildings.
As the First Deputy, directed the functions of 14 line
divisions in the areas of airfield/terminal operations, Airport security,
facilities maintenance and construction, parking and ground transportation
services. Facilities included 7,700 acres with four (4) terminal buildings and
seven (7) runways and 25,000 public parking spaces. Co-chaired Chicago Delay
Task Force, a major airport/airline/FAA cooperative effort that developed and
implemented solutions to reduce aircraft delays at both O'Hare and Midway
Airports. |
